ABUJA, Nigeria – In a major push to close Nigeria’s digital education gap, American Tower Corporation (ATC) Nigeria has partnered with the ProFuturo Foundation to roll out technology-enabled learning in 11 schools across Kano, Kebbi, and Taraba states. The initiative is expected to benefit over 5,600 students and 34 teachers, even in communities with limited or no internet access.

Implemented in partnership with the Kukah Centre, the program delivers comprehensive digital education kits to each school. These kits include computers, tablets, projectors, routers, and other tools designed to enhance classroom interactivity, improve teaching outcomes, and expose students to a wide range of digital learning resources.

The Nigeria initiative is part of a broader global partnership between ATC and the ProFuturo Foundation, a joint effort by the Telefónica Foundation and “la Caixa” Foundation to improve access, quality, and usage of educational resources in vulnerable communities across Africa and Latin America.

ATC Media Partnership with ProFuturo

ATC Nigeria’s involvement is an extension of its Digital Communities Program, which supports local access to digital literacy, vocational training, and health services. This new partnership marks a significant milestone in expanding those efforts into the education sector.

Pieter Van Der Westhuizen, CEO of ATC Nigeria, emphasized the impact:

“We are proud to support this impactful collaboration, which brings digital tools directly into classrooms. Through our work with the ProFuturo Foundation, we are expanding access to technology and equipping the next generation with the skills they need to thrive in a digital world.”

Magdalena Brier, General Manager of ProFuturo Foundation, added:

“This alliance reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital and education gap. Each child reached represents a life transformed through access to quality learning tools.”

Launched on World Youth Skills Day 2025, the initiative highlights the power of technology and collaboration in reshaping the future of education in Africa, and giving thousands of children the digital foundation to succeed.
